During an unprecedented time of financial challenges and fiscal uncertainty at the State level, the Boards of Education from Catlin Unit District #5 and Jamaica CUSD #12 have decided to come together to pursue a consolidation of the two districts. In the case of a consolidation, State statute requires the formation of a Committee of Ten. This committee is comprised of five representatives from each of the two districts and is charged with developing a consolidation plan to present to both boards for approval. Upon approval by both boards, a petition to consolidate will then be provided to the regional superintendent of schools and the official process will be set in motion.
